The Conversion of Matthew mural VVL

Here is my latest project. A mural for St Matthew's Church School, Located at 21st Ave and Van Buren,
Phoenix, AZ Title: The Conversion of St Matthew.

Deer Frida VVL Tuna Color
La Yaquesita VVL Tuna Color

In 2023 I created 3 paintings using the 'juice' color of the tunas off the nopales (Prickly Pear fruit) from my backyard. I exhibited them for the first time in June 2025 at CM2 Arts in Los Angeles at the Women who Inspire show.

(Currently available is Deer Frida and La Yaquesita)

I dedicated this art to my maternal grandmother my "Nana Maria" from Sonora, Mex. I have fond memories of her and her backyard in Douglas, AZ, it was full of nopales. I was always amazed at how many and how tall the prickly pear cactus had grown over time and lined the fence wall. She would dice them up and freeze them in sandwich bags for us to cook with when we would travel back home to Phoenix. She loved loading us up with her homemade chorizo, machaca/carne seca, tortillas & cheese. Literally an ice chest full of homemade love.
